About Enni Lakkala
Enni studied Adult Education Science, Speech Communication Science and Vocology at The University of Tampere obtaining her Masters Degree in 1986. At the moment she also continues her studies in vocology and is accepted in PhD studies in Educational science at Tampere University. She worked 13 years, from 1986-1999 as a communication teacher in the Oriveden Opisto (folk high school and an adult education center of Orivesi, Finland). With severe lower back pain and a claim by medical doctors that she would need to use a support belt for the rest of her life as “she had wrong type of back compared to the rest of her body” brought her in contact with the Alexander Technique in 1990. As she noticed the good effects of the technique for her self and the others, she organized short courses (3-5 days courses) at Oriveden Opisto for several Alexander Technique teachers and hundreds of students in 1990-1999. In 1997-1999 it became possible to join the Alexander Technique teacher training course run by Richard Gilbert in Helsinki, Finland. Enni qualified in December 3rd in 1999 (STAT certification 13th of December 1999). In 2000-2001 she started her own practice and ran short introductory courses as a teacher in Pohjois-Pirkanmaan koulutusinstituutti (areal vocational and adult education center). In the beginning of 2002 Enni started her own company (Alexander-asema Tietoinen Oy, Alexander Station Conscious Corp.) and since that she has run courses and organized courses for other teachers as well as running AT-summer courses and a private practice. Since 2010, she has also taught on the Teacher Training course in address Koulutie 4 A 2, 35300 Orivesi, Finland. Ennie is now director of the ATE-approved Alexander Technique Teacher Training Course, Orivesi.
